Really this is not a big deal since most people don't sign out of their
Apple accounts.
Steve brings up a good point for the Android users to note which is Apple
will unilaterally destroy your setup if you do NOT sign into Apple
frequently!
<Loading Image...> Apple _forces_ extra logins!

Yes. Frequently.
<Loading Image...> Apple tracks your activity

I've been running an experiment for the past two years on one of my iPads
by _refusing_ to log into Apple mothership tracking servers.

Eventually Apple unilaterally disabled my iPad to make it stop working.
<Loading Image...> Apple _forces_ a lock out!

The sheer requirement to log into the Apple walled garden just to use your
iOS device is a crippling requirement that no other platform would do.

Only Apple would stoop to those heinous levels of walled garden control.
<Loading Image...> Apple _disables_ your device!
It is true that it would be nice if the iPhone could just be used as a
web cam via USB/Lightning without any need for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. And
it can, with the proper app, see
<https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id964565026> but the paid
version is required for audio to work.
I don't think the Apple iKooks are as excited about the boring webcam so
much as what they consider "only Apple" desktop view features of it.

The Apple users love to gloat because their whole lives they have been told
they were stupid, and certainly they're stupid - as think of them as this:
<Loading Image...>
Realistically, I think that few Mac users would ever use this feature,
it's just too clunky. If they really need a higher quality webcam than
is built into their Macbook then they'd purchase a good webcam, the cost
of which is not very high.
Given it's not the motherships which supply most functionality, I googled
for the status of this desktop view feature is on iOS and on Android.

The result is that both Apple and iOS have it in beta channels of varying
levels of development, but, that production developers beat both to it.

Hi nospam,
I'm going to treat you as if you're an actual adult, is that OK with you?

Bear in mind that you're always wrong about what you claim, which is partly
because you simply lie (why would you need to know anything when you can
just lie) and then bear in mind that I'm telling the truth - and - that I'm
supplying the screenshots to prove that I'm telling the truth (unlike you).
<Loading Image...> Apple tracking server login

Let's talk some facts, which you ignorant iKooks are always unaware of.

1. Apple _will_ and _does_ force periodic logging into the Apple mothership
tracking servers - and any claim you fabricate that they don't is a lie.

2. I know this because I've done what you clueless iKooks have never done,
which is I refused to periodically log into Apple mothership trackers.

3. What Apple did, unilaterally, is lock me out of Apple functionality
which if you deny, just proves you iKooks know nothing about Apple.

Apple _does_ require that periodic login into Apple tracking servers.

What is interesting is that simply NOT logging into Apple mothership
tracking servers is something you iKooks consider "fucking up"...

What you decry is the essence of the Apple walled garden, nospam.

a. It's a fact Apple _requires_ periodic logging into their tracking
servers and if you do not, Apple will disable their functionality.

b. The only way to get your iPad functionality back is to waltz into
an Apple store, provide your full ID, and beg them to enable it.

The fact you hate facts about Apple doesn't change that they're facts.

under no circumstances will not logging into apple's servers result in

what you describe is activation lock, which is very different than
'must log into apples servers'. totally different.

activation lock is intended to prevent *stolen* ipads and iphones from
being used by someone other than the legitimate owner.

if you activation locked your own ipad (which itself is quite the
accomplishment, and not in a good way), and without the ability to
unlock it (which is significantly worse), then you are too stupid to
own any form of technology.

stick with something basic that doesn't use any servers, the cloud or
apps, such as this:

Hi Jolly Roger,

What you do not understand is in those images.

Clearly _some_ Apple services worked (e.g., see additional images below
showing I could update to iOS 16.3.1 without a problem); but, some Apple
services _require_ you to periodically log into Apple mothership tracking
servers (such as iMessage, FaceTime, etc.).

that's just a fact.
You can _hate_ that fact all you want, Jolly Roger.

But you hating every fact about Apple doesn't change they're still facts.

For example, I recently updated to iOS 16.3.1 and it worked just fine.

What you _hate_, Jolly Roger, is the fact that Apple requires logging into
their mothership tracking servers periodically, and, if you do not log into
them, then Apple will disable some (or all) the functionality of your iOS
device.

You simply _hate_ that fact.

Hi Jolly Roger,

*Why does FaceTime require constant logging in, while GV does not?*

You hating every fact about Apple doesn't change they're still facts.
<https://img.yumpu.com/6936343/1/500x640/standouts-the-beat-within.jpg>

What you whooshed on is that I'm signed in to the Apple ID as exemplified
by the ability to use Apple services such as the update to iOS 16.3.1.

But you have to _constantly_ sign in to the Apple mothership tracking
servers in order to use some of the more trackable apps, which is shown.

An example of something similar to iMessage is Google Voice, which, let's
be very clear, does NOT require me to do what Apple's iMessage requires.

Why is that?

*Why does iMessage require constant logging in, while GV does not?*

You're lying or ignorant...

...or more likely, both:

Please do not respond to Alan Baker because then the rest of us who have
him plonked have to see his garbage. Nobody responds to him but iKooks.

After two decades on Usenet, my killfile only contains a half dozen entries

Alan doesn't understand the difference between being logged in and
being asked to log in again (even though you're already logged in).

The iKooks are too stupid to get that nuance even as everyone else does.

That's why I ask everyone to consider _this guy_ as a typical iKook.

Worse, he uses Usenet as his sole amusement - he's just testing you.
The more you respond to Alan Baker, the more he loves it.

Because everyone else has Alan Baker plonked.
Didn't you notice NOBODY (but iKooks) ever responds to Alan Baker?

That's because it's not possible to have an adult conversation with him.
He doesn't even read what he replies to. He just blindly responds.

Without understanding anything.

Hi nospam,

Stop being a child.
Just stop it.

I'm going to assume you own at least normal adult cognitive skills, ok?

Nobody but you ever said, even once, that I'm not logged in.
So stop saying things which prove you have the IQ of a moron.

Just stop it.
It makes you look like this guy.
<Loading Image...>

You have to own the basic adult cognitive skill to understand there is a
difference between "being logged in" and in "constantly being asked by
Apple to confirm your identification" by expressly logging in again.

If you can't comprehend that nuance, you don't own adult cognition, nospam.
a. Apple _requires_ that constant proof by you repeatedly logging in expressly.
b. But only for _some_ apps (like iMessage & Facetime, and the iCloud).
c. Yet Google Voice and iOS updates do _not_ require proving your identity.

Before you read any further, you have to prove to us that you own adult
cognitive skills because what I said is not the same as you saying
that I'm not logged in.

Only a child would think I'm saying I'm not logged in.
You are a child.

There is nuance here that requires someone who has an IQ that is
somewhere around normal, nospam. You can't just deny outright all the facts, nospam.

The facts are clear that Apple iMessage and Facetime require _multiple_
_repetitive_ logging into the Apple mothership tracking servers - and GV
does not (nor do most of the apps on my iPad, even most Apple apps).

*But Facetime and iMessage are different in that regard.*

Assuming you own adult cognitive skills (which is a stretch), you'll be
able to discern that there is a fundamental difference with those two.

But if you don't own at least a normal IQ, you'll never understand facts.

The facts are most iOS apps, for example, the App Store don't require
multiple and repetitive express (typed) logging into the App Store, nospam.

What you don't understand, nospam, is I don't expressly have to type my
username/password credentials into *any* iOS app that I use daily, except
the iMessage and Facetime apps, which _require_ constantly doing that.

If you owned adult cognition, you would understand what this says, nospam.

It takes a real low-life loser to believe messaging and video
conferencing apps like iMessage, WhatsApp, FaceTimei, Zoom, and others
shouldn't require logins to servers.
Some SERVICES...

...require the use of a SERVER.

Can you use WhatsApp without logging in? No.

Can you use Google Chat without logging in? No.

The fact is that if you do not frequently log into Apple mothership

The functionality depends on Apple's servers knowing WHO YOU ARE.

Really this is not a big deal since most people don't sign out of their
Apple accounts.
Steve brings up a good point for the Android users to note which is Apple
will unilaterally destroy your setup if you do NOT sign into Apple
frequently!
<https://i.postimg.cc/nrFHSvby/appleid11.jpg> Apple _forces_ extra logins!
Yes. Frequently.
<https://i.postimg.cc/8k3GQyj4/appleid09.jpg> Apple tracks your activity
I've been running an experiment for the past two years on one of my iPads
by _refusing_ to log into Apple mothership tracking servers.
Eventually Apple unilaterally disabled my iPad to make it stop working.
<https://i.postimg.cc/g008YhxP/appleid02.jpg> Apple _forces_ a lock out!
The sheer requirement to log into the Apple walled garden just to use your
iOS device is a crippling requirement that no other platform would do.
Only Apple would stoop to those heinous levels of walled garden control.
<https://i.postimg.cc/q75t7MSk/appleid03.jpg> Apple _disables_ your device!
<https://img.yumpu.com/6936343/1/500x640/standouts-the-beat-within.jpg>

Why would anyone put up with being forced to log into Apple servers every
day just to keep Apple native apps from locking up on you at Apple's will?

You're not only extremely gullible but clearly have zero experience with
Apple devices if you believe this complete bullshit. 🤡

While no one denies that the "walled garden" (aka "ecosystems) exists
they are not the same, therefore your claim that 'no one denies' is
false on its face.
You sound like Putin, nospam, when you deny what nobody else would deny.
"Despite its
negative connotation and criticism for locking users in, a lot of
competing consumer technology brands envision having the same success as
Apple,
apple doesn't lock in users, something that is an easily debunked myth.
OK. What happens to your Apple apps then, that you so love and cherish, if
you simply do not log periodically into Apple mothership tracking servers?

HINT: I know. You don't.
DOUBLE HINT: <https://i.postimg.cc/8k3GQyj4/appleid09.jpg>
for example, apple uses industry standard formats that can easily be
moved to other platforms as well as interoperate with other platforms.
When you deflect from the walled garden, you sound like Putin deflecting
from the Ukraine War (your horrid personality is almost exactly the same).
contrast that to microsoft, who creates its own proprietary formats,
such as wmv and wma with the sole intent of locking in users. another
example is when they modified html standards for their server products
to force users to use internet explorer instead of competing browsers,
something for which they were found legally liable.
Just like the Russians blaming the Ukrainians, you blame everyone but Apple
for the fact that Apple locks users inside the walled garden, nospam.

Why is it always that Microsoft made Apple do the bad things Apple does?

Jesus Christ Almighty.

*You are an utter imbecile*, nospam.
<https://img.yumpu.com/6936343/1/500x640/standouts-the-beat-within.jpg>

If you think after two years of NOT logging into Apple mothership tracking
servers that Apple's messaging app (just for one example) "keeps on
working", then it's more proof that *you know absolutely nothing of iOS*.

Seriously nospam. *You are an imbecile*.

That's not even an ad hominem attack.
It's a fact.

You don't have any clue whatsoever how iOS works.
And yet, you think you do.

But you've _never tested_ it even once.
And I have. For two years.

FACT:
Many Apple apps stop working.
Some don't (such as iOS updates).

But many do.
Such as facetime, messages, icloud app store, etc.

Ask me how I know this.
<https://i.postimg.cc/nrFHSvby/appleid11.jpg> Apple services die sans repeated logging in even though you _are_ logged in!

dude, i have iphones going back 15 years to the very first one, and all
of the apps continue to work without issue, at least as far as the
phone is concerned.

many of the third party developers are history and their servers no
longer exist, so their apps can't do much anymore, but that's a
completely different issue.

i do not use those phones regularly, and they remain *off* for much
longer than the 'two years' you are claiming is the time limit, as in
roughly *ten* years for some.

tl;dr - you fucked up and refuse to admit it. it's obvious what you
did, especially after yesterday's revelation.

Same here with several older devices. Arlen doesn't care - he knows if
he repeats his outright lies, the gullible idiots that make up his
little troll gang will gleefully believe them, facts be damned.

What is no longer shocking is that Jolly Roger & nospam know absolutely
nothing about iOS - and yet - they think they do. They're like this guy.

very clear he has never used iAnything.

Really this is not a big deal since most people don't sign out of
their Apple accounts.
Steve brings up a good point for the Android users to note which is
Apple will unilaterally destroy your setup if you do NOT sign into
Apple frequently!
LOL... You're a clueless idiot if you think that. Apple doesn't destroy
anything, and signing into your Apple ID account is optional.

*Steve is correct.*

Both nospam and Jolly Roger are wrong (they are nothing but sleazy liars).

Both Steve and I own both platforms, whereas JollY Roger & nospam
do not, and worse, they are no different than this guy is in concept.
<https://img.yumpu.com/6936343/1/500x640/standouts-the-beat-within.jpg>

While Google does NOT require a mothership login on Android, Apple
_requires_ not only that mothership tracking server login, but if you
refuse to log in frequently to the Apple mothership tracking servers (for
privacy reasons), Apple will eventually lock you out of your device
(simply for wanting a bit of privacy from Apple mothership trackers).

FACT:
<Loading Image...> Apple requires frequent login
<Loading Image...> Most things still work
<Loading Image...> But some stop working
<Loading Image...> And you can't ever use VPN!

Notice the iKooks deny all things they _hate_ about Apple, but they _never_
supply a single reference or real-world experience, which I provided above.

Admittedly, the "walled garden" for iOS/iPadOS does make it not possible
for some capabilities to exist on those devices.
there is no 'walled garden' and what you claim is impossible is not
only very possible, but in some cases without any additional apps
because the functionality is *built* *into* *ios*.
*It's no longer shocking that nospam knows _nothing_ about iOS*

Only iKooks would deny what exists _everywhere_ in iOS, which any adult
can see, and, which _every_ article out there references as very real.

It's only the iKooks who know so little of iOS, they can't even see it.
Yet they will _never_ produce a cite backing up their imaginary beliefs.

This is how people should consider the iKooks who are all low-life scum.
