Why does FaceTime & iMessage require constant repetitive logging in,
while Google Voice, Safari, the App Store & iOS upgrades do not?

Eventually Apple locked me out, unilaterally, of Facetime & iMessage.
That's no loss whatsoever, but the experimental results are what matter.

Note that you're logged in which is shown by the fact you can update iOS.

An example of something similar to iMessage is Google Voice, which, let's be
very clear, does NOT require us to do what Apple's iMessage requires of us.
Why is that?
